The Network Communications Specialist will augment the load of the IT
department. This individual must have a very good understanding of segmented
networks, VoIP & Digital Telephone Systems, open source operating systems
and tools.
Essential Functions:
• Coordinates and/or performs additions and changes to network hardware and
operating systems, and attached devices , includes investigation, analysis,
recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network
hardware and software
• Provides direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware
and operating systems; duties include evaluation of system utilization,
monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of
operational problems
• Troubleshoots at the physical level of the systems and network, working
with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking
and testing of hardware devices
• Participates in planning design, technical review and implementation for
new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice
and data communication networks
• Maintains network infrastructure standards
• Provides technical consultation, training and support to IT staff
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
• BA in Information Systems or equivalent experience
• 4-6 years experience of networking and communications systems administration maintenance,
in a medium-sized environment
• Extensive working knowledge of routers (Cisco, SonicWall), network hardware,
Windows operating systems, and software (CCNA a plus)
• Extensive working knowledge of VoIP and
Digital Phone Systems (WIN Communications a plus)
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex communication problems
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Occasionally travel up to 100 miles from Spokane in private vehicle
